McCartney, Susan Boyle Lead “Glee's” British Invasion

It's only fitting that "Glee," Fox's popular and critically acclaimed breakout musical-comedy, would be touched by royalty given its ever growing list of accolades and adoring throngs of fans.

Sir Paul McCartney recently sent show creator Ryan Murphy two mashup CD's with tunes that the famous Beatle would like to see on the show this fall, reports the New York Daily News.

"I thought I was being punked," Murphy told a gathering of critics in Los Angeles. "But it was real. It was a package from Paul McCartney, hand-written, with two CDs and a note in it. It said 'Hope you'll consider these songs.'"

Not too bad for a show about a high school choir.

"So I listened and it was things like 'Michele.' I was gobsmacked. I mean, I grew up with this guy," Murphy said.

Fans should keep their ears open for some of McCartney's tunes, but he won't be the only British influence in the show's sophomore season. Youtube sensation Susan Boyle is set to guest star in the show's Christmas episode.

While the show has enlisted an impressive roster of guests stars for the new year, including Academy Award winning actor Javier Bardem, Murphy says that the show will try to focus more on developing plot lines at the expense of a few musical acts per episode.

"We did nine with Madonna last year and that was insane," he said. "We're thinking more like five or six. We'll concentrate more on storylines."

Murphy also revealed that the show has been plotted out for four seasons, so its supporters can rest well knowing that class won't be out for good anytime soon.
