Two polls released Wednesday show President Obama widening his lead over Mitt Romney in the key state of Wisconsin. Obama leads, 54 percent to 40 in a Marquette University Law poll, and 51 percent to 45 in a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, the New York Times and CBS News. Wisconsin, which voted Obama in 2008, became a toss-up state after Romney named Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan to his ticket. But a strong month for the Obama team and setbacks for Romney pushed Obama ahead. The polls show that more Wisconsin women favor Obama than they do Romney and that Obama maintains a small lead among male voters. In a bid to expand his influence in the key state, Romney and his campaign have redirected some money and manpower to Wisconsin, and away from their original destinations of Pennsylvania and Michigan, The New York Times reported. NBC News and Marist College will have a third Wisconsin poll out Thursday.
