Despite reports, Britney Spears' first single off her upcoming 2011 album will not be released on January 7 — but it will be released next month.
"Lot of misinformation out there regarding the release of Brits 1st single. Don't believe everything you read," Adam Leber, a manager for the pop princess, Tweeted from Britney's official Twitter account on Friday morning.
"Unless of course it's an official announcement coming in January. STAY TUNED," Adam continued from Brit's Twitter page.
While he didn't reveal the exact date, Adam confirmed Britney's new tune would be released next month.
"the single is DEFINITELY coming in January," he added.

Adam's Tweets seemed to be prompted by reports which surfaced on Wednesday suggesting that the pop star would release a new single — called "Hold It Against Me" — next week.
"It's produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin," Z100 New York program director Sharon Dastur told Entertainment Weekly. "And the beat that they give her is really unique compared to other artists - this infectious bass beat beneath the song. Plus, the hook is just amazing."
Dastur added that the single would be released on January 7.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, earlier this month, Britney herself confirmed she'd have a new album in 2011.
"I'm almost done with my new album and it will be coming out this March," Britney Tweeted on December 2. "I AM IN L-O-V-E WITH IT!"
Britney's last studio album, "Circus," was released in 2008.
