Race to the New York Primary: Sanders Holds Rally in the Village, Clinton Speaks to National Action Network

New York's primary election is slated for next Tuesday, April 19

With less than a week to go until the New York primary, Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are in New York City, with the Vermont senator holding a rally and concert in Greenwich Village and the former secretary of state speaking to Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.

Democrats:

Bernie Sanders had a busy day in New York City. He started off the day by accepting an endorsement from the Transit Workers Union, which represents 42,000 people in the area. Afterward he appeared outside a Verizon building where hundreds of striking workers were picketing. He gave an impromptu speech, calling the striking cable and telecom employees "brothers and sisters."

He's also held a large rally and concert in Washington Square Park. Thousands of people filled the park as Sanders took the stage.

"It is about creating a political revolution," Sanders told the crowd.

Vampire Weekend, Grizzly Bear and TV on the Radio performed at the celebrity-studded event. 

Hillary Clinton started the day at the Sheraton Times Square, where she spoke to the National Action Network, a civil rights organization founded by Al Sharpton.

Clinton then held a campaign event at the Dreiser Loop Community Center in the Bronx.

Republicans:

Donald Trump held a large rally in downtown Pittsburgh Wednesday evening.

Ted Cruz held a rally in Erie. 

John Kasich was in Maryland, where he visitrf an ice cream shop and held a town hall.
