Woman β€˜With Whole Life Ahead of Her' Mourned

Angela Gomez's family is angry and sad over the death of their daughter who was on her way to becoming a nurse.

Family and friends on Wednesday mourned the loss of a 20-year-old woman who was killed Sunday along with 57 others at a concert in Las Vegas.

Every time Steve and Julie Gomez see a certain picture of their daughter, Angela, it hurts bad.

Gomez graduated from Polytechnic High School in Riverside in 2015 and was enrolled in the nursing program at Riverside City College. She was with her high school sweetheart, Ethan Sanchez, when a gunman opened fire on the Route 91 concert Sunday night in Las Vegas.

Sanchez and a group of strangers carried Gomez to safety. Shot twice by high caliber rounds, she died minutes later at a Las Vegas hospital.

"As soon as she got struck, she collapsed in his arms," her father said.

Added her mother: "No mother should ever again have to go through this."

"Our baby girl, such a good girl," said her father. "Had her whole life ahead of her."

The Gomez's believe in the right to bear arms, but they don't believe anyone but the military should have weapons like this.

"It's not Democrat. It's not Republican. It's not anything political. It's common sense," her mother said.

Gun reform continues to be a divisive issue, with many lawmakers refusing to budge an inch.

"I'd say you'd feel differently if it was your child," said her mother.

The anger the family feels about the mass shooting is outweighed by the grief they feel over the death of their daughter who was on her way to becoming a nurse.

"Who knows what she could have done with her life," said Angie's mother. "Help save other people in her nursing profession."
