Paris Hilton's Boyfriend Attacked Near Courthouse

A man who said he planned on marrying Paris Hilton lunged at the socialite's boyfriend outside the Superior Court building in Van Nuys on Wednesday.

The man, who identified himself as James Rainford, grabbed the back of Cy Waits' shirt before Hilton's body guard intervened. Waits and Hilton were about to attend the trial of Hilton's alleged stalker, Nathan Lee Parada.

While her bodyguard wrestled the man to ground, Hilton recognized the suspect, saying "That's the guy who came on the bike to my house," referencing an incident from late last year.

When reporters asked the man who he was, he said, "I have someone in court."

Rainford also said he was planning to marry Hilton and he had photographic evidence.

"I've already proposed to her and her dad already said 'yes,'" he said.

Rainford also used a homophobic slur to describe Waits while talking to a roving crowd of reporters.

Hilton had posted on her Twitter account that a "psycho intruder just punched Cy in the back of the head as we were walking into the court house.''

Police Officer Cleon Joseph said the man has been detained and an investigation is under way.

Jury selection was completed Wednesday morning in the case of 32-year-old Nathan Lee Parada, who faces one felony count of attempted residential burglary for allegedly trying to break into Hilton's home.

He was arrested Aug. 24 by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division, after Hilton called police to report that someone was outside her home.
