Red Paint Splattered Across Planned Parenthood in Pacific Beach

Red paint was splattered across the doors of a Planned Parenthood in Pacific Beach overnight Monday, the second vandalism at the location in recent months.

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) was alerted to vandalism at the clinic located on Mission Bay Drive just before 3 a.m. Monday.

Officers arrived to find red paint strewn across the front of the building. Paint splatters covered the facility's sign and reached to the windows of the building's second floor.

SDPD did not have any suspects Monday morning and no arrests had been made.

At least one customer who arrived at the clinic Monday morning told NBC 7 when she saw the paint splatter, she thought it was blood.

Planned Parenthood said they were disappointed by the vandalism but would remain open to customers.

"While we are disappointed by the recent vandalism to our health center, no attempt at intimidation will stop us from serving our patients," Jessica Logan, a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, told NBC 7 in a written statement. "We've been a part of the fabric of this community for 55 years, and we'll be here for many more to come. You can count on our doors staying open, no matter what."

The Planned Parenthood typically opens at 7:30 a.m. on Monday's, according to its website. Some customers arrived and were turned away temporarily due to the vandalism.

"Every act like this is not good so, you are doing something that is going to be bad for someone’s life, so, like me, I took a day off and it’s not good," Bruna Matuti told NBC 7.

The same Planned Parenthood location was targeted by vandals the week of Feb.  11, according to SDPD. In that offense, the office manager discovered streaks of paint across the building. Police believed the vandalism occurred overnight. No arrest was made.

It was not clear if police believe the two incidents are connected.

Their clinic's doors were reopened just before 10 a.m.
