Regis Philbin Crashes “The Tonight Show”

Regis has a thing or two to say about "gramp stamps."

Jimmy Fallon can do a spot-on impression of Regis Philbin.

As it turns out, Philbin can do a pretty good impression of Fallon, too.

The venerable TV personality made a special appearance on "The Tonight Show" Friday evening, filling in for sideman Steve Higgins and adding a dose of outsized bombastic charm to a few thank-you notes of his own.

"Thank you, microwave popcorn, for coming in two varieties: Not-completely-popped and smoking wreckage," Philbin quipped as he took over Fallon's usual Friday-night bit — which he mimicked more or less perfectly. He even tossed in Fallon's overwrought arm sweep, although that detail took some practice.

Another of Philbin's gems: "Thank you, saggy tattoos — or as you're also known, gramp stamps."

Jimmy and Vince race the clock to summarize movie plots and get each other to guess the title.

Actor Vince Vaughn, who stars in the highly anticipated second season of HBO's "True Detective," returned Friday to the visitor's couch.

He and Fallon talked through their awkward conversation the night before with "True Detective" co-star Colin Farrell, and then teamed up for a round "5-Second Summary."

Jimmy Fallon, Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn play a game where they take turns confessing to a random fact, then interrogate each other to determine who was telling the truth.

"Tonight" returns Monday, June 22, with guests Seth MacFarlane and Amber Heard as well as musical guest Leon Bridges.
