A 35-year-old man has been arrested on two charges of arson in connection with a string of seven fires set at churches in St. Louis, Missouri.
David Lopez Jackson was linked to two of the seven fires, St. Louis Police Chief Samuel Dotson said at a news conference Friday.
The fires were set between Oct. 8 and Oct. 22 near the doors of churches in St. Louis, NBC News reported. Forensice evidence connected Jackson to one fire, while his car, which he said he has exclusive use of, was seen at another fire, Dotson said. Jackson remains a suspect in the other fires.
"Arson of any kind is disturbing. It is especially disturbing when arson is directed at the very foundation of our community," St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay said at the news conference.
