“Superbad” Director Joins Pitt and Portman's “Important Artifacts”

Greg Mottola, director of "Adventureland" and "Superbad," has signed on to write and direct a romcom adaptation of an auction catalog.

OK, that's not entirely accurate, but Mottola will be bringing Leanne Shapton’s "Important Artifacts and Personal Property From the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion and Jewelry," a book that tells the story of a failed marriage by presetting the artifacts of their romance in catalog form," according to Risky Business.

The hiring of Mottola helped quickly firm up rumors that Natalie Portman and Brad Pitt would play the lead roles, and it turns out each will co-produce through their respective companies, Plan B and Handsomecharlie Films.

Mottola's next film, "Paul," written by and starring NIck Frost and Simon Pegg, is about two comic book nerds touring the U.S. who end up having a close encounter outside Area 51.
