All of your questions about the fate of Jack Pearson will be answered Sunday following the Super Bowl, “This Is Us” fans. It’s been the most anticipated episode all season and the storyline will reveal how beloved husband, dad and family patriarch Pearson (played by Milo Ventimiglia) dies.
“I mean, I filmed it and it was really hard on every level," Moore told Us Weekly. "I think it’s … I think it’s gonna be a good soul-crusher."
Super Bowl Sunday 1998 meets Super Bowl Sunday 2018 in what is expected to be the most heart-wrenching episode of the season.
“This Is Us” has stolen the hearts of millions and Jack has been like a dear family member to nearly every viewer. Fans have been dreading this episode since it was first revealed that Jack was never around in the “present” scenes of the show.
Fans have been analyzing and piecing together any clue or detail pointing to Jack’s death, but the time has finally come to see how it really happened.

The most recent episode from Jan. 23 ended with a slow cooker glitch starting a fire in the Pearson family home with flames climbing up the stairs to the bedrooms. The final minutes of the episode showed Jack cleaning the kitchen and doing his nightly tasks — his final moments.
This episode’s trailer shows a frightened and breathless Jack trying to save his family from the flames. Jack’s daughter Kate appears to be on the other side of the window, shouting for her father.
But the big question remains: What will happen in the fire?
Present-day Kate says in the trailer, and has said in previous episodes, that her father’s death was her fault; but how?
The trailer begins with emotional flashbacks to some of Jack’s best and sweetest moments with his family. It goes back to Jack consoling teenage Kevin in the hospital after his football injury, his and Rebecca’s wedding day, when he did push-ups with young Randall on his back and the time Kate held her father’s face in her hands.
“It is a very, very exciting episode,” executive producer Isaac Aptaker told Entertainment Weekly. “We shot it early, so we had extra time to make sure everything was perfect in editing. It was one of my favorite episodes we’ve ever done, and I think it’s really going to blow people away."
“It’s one of the most emotional episodes we’ve ever done, but there is a silver lining to it, and there’s an uplift to the episode,” Aptaker said. “While it’s incredibly intense in a lot of ways, there is beauty to it, and there is optimism to it. That’s so important to us — to always find the lighter side of things too.”
