Splashy tropical-prints trousers dominated spring and summer, but this fall, arty geometric patterns ruled the runways. We tried the look by pairing J.Crew's printed trousers ($150 at Net-a-Porter) with a nubby Chloe sweater ($995 at Net-a-Porter) and smart smoking loafers ($39.95 at The Gap). A woven chain bracelet ($25 at Topshop) adds a touch of bling to the look while still feeling sophisticated.
Carven's cool striped trousers ($675 at Net-a-Porter) pair perfectly with a slouchy camel knit ($248 at J.Crew) and simple patent-leather loafers ($50 at Zara). A lipstick-red leather tote from Marni ($367 at MyTheresa) picks up the red in the trousers, and is roomy enough to stash work essentials.
Slouchy polka-dot trousers ($70 at Topshop) pack a punch but are neutral enough to pair with a brightly colored tee ($20 at J.Crew). For some texture, we added Phillip Lim's pointy-toe booties ($650 at LaGarconne). Satomi Kawakita's diamond bar earrings ($450 at Catbird ) lend a hint of glitz.
With slim jean styling, Isabel Marant's cool printed pants ($370 at Isabel Marant) have a boho-chic appeal and pair easily with a light linen tee from Alexander Wang ($98 at Net-a-Porter). Marant's ever-popular Dicker boots (price upon request at Creatures of Comfort) are chic yet functional, while art deco earrings ($3.80 at Forever21) amp up the glam factor.
Stella McCartney's cheeky logo-print pants ($785 at Net-a-Porter) demand a simple top like Phillip Lim's asymmetric blouse ($450 at LaGarconne). For some shimmery bling, we paired the look with basic golden flats ($19.80 at Forever21) and a glittery Jimmy Choo clutch ($495 at MyTheresa).
