A 38-year-old Tustin man was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of groping a 13-year-old girl at an Office Max store in Irvine.
Rajmohan Dhanapal was arrested at his home after investigators received a tip from the public indicating the suspect inappropriately touched the girl at the Office Max at 13728 Jamboree Road, Kim Mohr of the Irvine Police Department said.
The victim was shopping with her mother at the store about 7:50 p.m., Aug. 14, when the suspect approached her as she was alone in one of the aisles and groped her, Mohr said.
The suspect ran out of the store and video surveillance captured his image, Mohr said.
Police asked for the public's help identifying the suspect on Wednesday, which prompted a tip from the public, Mohr said.
Dhanapal was booked on suspicion of committing a lewd act on a child younger than 14, child annoyance and sexual battery, Mohr said.
