Two Killed in a High-Speed Lamborghini Crash in Encino

A 25-year-old man and 19-year-old woman died when the high-performance car crashed into a SUV and tree

A 25-year-old man and 19-year-old woman died when the Lamborghini they were riding in crashed into an SUV, then struck a tree and caught fire near the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in Encino Wednesday night.

The crash occurred at Burbank Boulevard and Hayvenhurst Avenue around 7:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. One victim was identified as 19-year-old Luiza Vaagnovna Karakhanyan. The second person was identified later Thursday as Joel David White, 25, of Long Beach.

Both died at the scene.

The sports car was eastbound on Burbank Boulevard at speeds over 100 mph when it struck an SUV, then slammed into a tree and caught fire, police said. The driver and passenger died at the scene.

The names of the victims were not disclosed. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
