George R. Tyndall, the former University of Southern California gynecologist charged with sexually abusing patients, has surrendered his medical license, according to the California Medical Board.
Tyndall surrendered his license, effective Sept. 5, the board said.
"The incidents outlined in the Board's accusation against George Tyndall are egregious violations," said Kimberly Kirchmeyer, the board's executive director, in a statement. "On behalf of California consumers, the Board achieved the highest level of patient protection with the surrender of Tyndall's license."
The board suspended Tyndall's license after it learned about the reports of the sexual misconduct, the statement said.
The board's accusation outlines inappropriate sexual contact with five patients he treated during his time as a gynecologist at a college student health center, officials said.
Tyndall who was arrested in June on 29 felony counts and faces up to 53 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
He has denied any wrongdoing.
