Will Zev Run for Mayor?

Will he or won't he?

That's the question many political watchers are asking of Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and whether he will run for mayor in 2013.

"It's very much under serious consideration and the election is almost a year and a half away," Yaroslavsky said. "There's plenty of time to make that decision."

Yaroslavsky would join a crowded pack of candidates in the 2013 campaign race including Los Angeles City Councilman Eric Garcetti, City Controller Wendy Greuel, Councilwoman Jan Perry, and former Deputy Mayor Austin Beutner.

Also rumored to be considering a run is billionaire mall developer Rick Caruso.

Yaroslavsky said he has his "plate full" with the LA County Board of Supervisors but said the final decision will be based on whether he wants to do it.

"It's something that I've warmed up to very much. I love this city. I served this city and the county for 36 years," Yaroslavsky said. "One way or the other I want to have an influence on the direction this city takes for the rest of my life."
