Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump delivers the convocation at Liberty University on January 18, 2016, in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The daughter of legendary actor John Wayne has endorsed Donald Trump for president, the GOP candidate announced Tuesday during a campaign stop in Iowa.

"John Wayne would be very, very proud of you right now," Trump told the actor's daughter, Aissa Wayne, at the John Wayne Birthplace Museum in Winterset, Iowa.

He spoke highly of the elder Wayne, calling him "bigger than life" and describing the endorsement as an honor.

The Republican frontrunner alluded to another forthcoming endorsement during a "tremendous" campaign event later in the day.

"I think you'll be impressed with the endorsement we get later on," he said.

Trump would not comment on rumors that former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin is the one set to endorse him.
