Sen. Marco Rubio's campaign is preparing to finish third in South Carolina, saying that it’s still a six-person face, NBC News reported.
But his critics, especially the Ted Cruz campaign, say that a third-place victory is questionable, especially after Rubio earned endorsements from Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott and U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy.
"He's got the top three endorsements in the state," said Alice Stewart, a Cruz spokeswoman. "If he can't win here, the question is: how can he win anywhere else?"
After leaving South Carolina late Saturday, Rubio will arrive in Tennessee overnight. His campaign will plan events in Nashville and then Little Rock, Arkansas, two key states for him on Super Tuesday.
