Obama Cites Grandma's Death in Health Care Talks

"I know what it's like to watch somebody you love...struggle"

Following a family excursion to Yellowstone National Park, President Obama paid a visit to Grand Junction, Colorado where he continued to push his health care plan during the second town hall meeting of his trip out West.

"No one in America should go broke because they get sick,” Obama told the crowd.

At one point during the question-and-answer portion of the meeting, Obama became emotional while dispelling rumors that his plan would encourage setting up “death panels to pull the plug on grandma."

“I just lost my grandma last year.  I know what it’s like to watch someone you love aging, deteriorating,” said Obama.  “When you start making arguments like that, that's simply dishonest."

President Obama and the first family will continue their combined town hall meeting and national park tour with a visit to Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona on Sunday.
