Newsom Prepares for Fatherhood

San Francisco mayor treated to Giants' game to celebrate growing family

In another sign that Mayor Gavin Newsom is putting his interesting past behind him and finally settling down, the would be governor was treated to a "Dadchelor's party" this past Tuesday night.

What is Dadchelor's Party, you ask? It's sort of like a married man's final right of passage before he becomes a new dad.

The San Francisco mayor and his actress wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, are set to welcome their first child into the world on Sept. 24.

Fifteen of the mayor's closest friends (yes he still has some despite earlier reports) took him to watch the San Francisco Giants lose to the San Diego Padres, spokesman Nathan Ballard told the San Francisco Examiner. On Wednesday, Newsom was in Washington D.C. to attend President Barack Obama's speech on health care.

"The mayor is a huge baseball fan," Ballard told the paper adding the soon to be father went to the University of Santa Clara on a partial baseball scholarship.

Newsom recently moved to a new Pacific Heights house to prepare for his new addition and the mayor already has plenty of room in his car.
