President Obama Coming Back to San Francisco for City Hall Fundraiser

President Barack Obama will be back in the Bay Area on Oct. 10, 2014, to fundraise ahead of the mid-term elections, according to an invitation sent to supporters Wednesday.

While the fundraiser will be held at a public building, San Francisco City Hall, members of the public will only be able to attend if they are willing to spend at least $1,000 per ticket.

According to the invitation, “Prices to attend this intimate reception will be: $1000 (Reception); $5000 (Reception and Photo with the President; each additional person in photo is $2500); $10,000 (Small meet-and-greet with President, photo with President Obama and attend Reception).”

The Oct. 10th visit will be the president’s 19th trip to the Bay Area since taking office in 2009. So far, Democrats have raised about $32 million for the 2014 elections from the nine counties that make up the Bay Area, according to an analysis by NBC Bay Area. Republicans have raised about a third of that, bringing in about $11 million.

Renting out San Francisco’s City Hall costs up to $30,000 for a single event, according to the city administrator’s office.

In previous trips, Obama has held multiple fundraising events, usually one on the Peninsula and another in San Francisco. The most common venue for the president’s fundraisers has been the homes of prominent Bay Area CEOs. This appears to be the first time the president will be fundraising at a public building during a Bay Area visit.

According to the invitation, a meet-and-greet with President Obama will cost $10,000.

The president’s last visit to the Bay Area was back in July for another brief fundraising visit.
