$40K in Camera Gear Stolen From NBA Crew in Oakland: Report

A camera crew working for NBA Entertainment was robbed of more than $40,000 in equipment after thieves broke into their van in Oakland, police told the Oakland Tribune.

The three men went inside a Panda Express on Oakport Street in a shopping center off Hegenberger Road on Tuesday at about 2 p.m. and returned to the van about 20 minutes later to find a window smashed out and several items missing, police told the newspaper. Five laptops worth an estimated $16,000, camera equipment worth $25,000 and cell phones and personal belongings were gone, the newspaper reported.

The crew is in town for the NBA Finals, which took place Thursday night at the Oracle Arena, which is across the street. The Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-100.

Reached on Friday, a Panda Express manager said he had not seen or heard about the break-in and that his shop only has video surveillance near the drive-thru area, not in the parking lot.

The Tribune was unable to reach an NBA Entertainment representative for comment.
