49ers' Kaepernick: I'm Criticized Because I'm Stereotyped

Turlock native feels that prejudice against his appearance, style behind disses.

Colin Kaepernick is who he is. And that's not sitting well with the haters.

The 49ers' star quarterback, who just signed an enormous $126 million contract, says that he's been the target of unfair criticism from those who take issue with his appearance: his tattoos, his clothes, and the way he talks, he told BleacherReport.com.

"I think between the tattoos, the way I dress, I way I talk -- people don't think it should go together with a franchise quarterback," Kaepernick said in an interview with former NFL quarterback Chris Simms,

Indeed, Kap isn't the clean-cut, Johnny Football-type person one might have seen on a box of Wheaties in the 1980s... but then again, he's just the kind of young man in his 20s many of us know (and are).

To his credit, Kap owned up to the size of his contract, saying that it's Super Bowl or bust.

That said, in the ink-crazy Bay Area, Kap surely has some fans for the way he looks, too.
