Levi's Stadium Sign Hoisted Into Place

Levi’s Stadium has its sign. Construction crews putting the finishing touches on the 49ers’ new home have hoisted the sign into place.

The clothing company is paying $220 million to Santa Clara and the 49ers over the next 20 years for the naming rights.

Along with hosting 49ers home games, Super Bowl L in 2016 will be held there.

The first game scheduled is soccer match in August between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Seattle Sounders.

The new stadium, about 35 miles down Highway 101 from Candlestick Park, the Niners' home since 1971, cost an estimated $1.2 billion to build.

There is still a chance there could be one final game at Candlestick. If the 49ers beat the Panthers on Sunday, and if the Saints beat the Seahawks, then the 49ers would host the Saints in the NFC Championship Game.
