Anyone can call themselves 49er faithful, but a few dozen fans are sacrificing a little bare skin for their love of the team.
The Silver Needle Tattoo Studio in Concord offered a $49 special for a 49ers tattoo.
On Thursday, the shop inked logos on 45 people, eventually having to turn customers away. And on Friday, the waiting area was once again jammed.
Fans traveled from as far as Stockton and San Jose for the ultimate gesture of football devotion.
"I was born and raised in San Francisco," 49ers fan Gloria Gomez said. "I’m hard-core. Always will be. Obviously, right?"
Fans who turned out also said tattoos, like the love of a team, are permanent.
"Right now, they’re doing great in the playoffs," Rick Fredriksz of San Jose said. "And I’m a big fan--faithful for life, so I definitely want something until I pass away or whatever."
The shop plans to continue its special as long as the team is in the hunt for this year’s Super Bowl trophy. The 49ers will try to advance to the Super Bowl Sunday, as they take on the division-rival Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game.
