Anthony Davis Does Not Elaborate on ‘miscommunication'

SANTA CLARA -– Offensive lineman Anthony Davis had no desire Wednesday to explain the events of the weekend when his future with the 49ers appeared to be in question.

"Just leave it and let it fester," Davis said when asked if he wanted to clear up what happened.

Davis reiterated what 49ers coach Chip Kelly said, that there was a "miscommunication." Davis did not practice on Saturday. The 49ers reported his absence as "not injury related."

Sources told CSNBayArea.com that Davis was considering retirement. After the 49ers and Davis were in contact most of Saturday, Davis returned to practice on Sunday.

Andrew Tiller replaced Davis as the starter at right guard. Davis suited up for Monday's game as one of just two backup linemen. Davis said the decision to remove him as the starting guard was "coach's decision."

Davis said he now plays tackle and guard. He originally competed against Trent Brown for the team's starting job at right tackle. Davis said it was his decision to originally move to guard.

"As one of the linemen who are dressing, we have to be able to play guard and tackle," he said.
