Another Resignation on 49ers Coaching Staff

Either the San Francisco 49ers' coaches and players are having a run of terrible luck this year, or else 49ers headquarters at 4949 Centennial Boulevard in Santa Clara is just not that great of a place to work.

For the fourth time just this season, a 49ers player or coach has up and quit, citing "personal reasons".  Defensive backs coach Johnnie Lynn resigned Wednesday afternoon, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports.

Three players have quit the 49ers for "personal reasons" this season: running back Glen Coffee, defensive lineman Kentwan Balmer and safety Michael Lewis.

Did Lynn choose to quit, or was he pushed? It's a valid question. The 49ers' secondary gave up 298 yards and three touchdowns through the air in Sunday's loss to the Packers.

Lynn's role will be filled by Vance Joseph, who already shared the position with Lynn.

Joe Kukura is a freelance writer who wonders if Lynn was forced to quit for cracking a joke about bad children sitting on Santa Claus' lap.
