Bobby Lea heads to Rio looking for his first medal in his third Olympic appearance.

Lea entered his first competitive cycling race when he was four years old and won his first national title at age 13. Since then, he has accumulated more than 40 national wins.

A Maryland native and a graduate of Gunston Day School in Centreville, Maryland, Lea earned an automatic bid to the 2016 Olympics with his third place finish at the 2015 world championships.

Hailing from a cycling family, Lea’s parents have been cycling for more than three decades and his brother Syd is a five-time Special Olympics gold medalist. He will compete in the track cycling event.
