With their 32-17 loss to the Lions on Sunday, the 49ers fell to 4-11.
If the Red and Gold lose at home to the Rams on Sunday, the four wins would match the fewest since the 4-12 campaign in 2005.
"I think every part of this organization, you have to put it on the table, and it's open to change," former 49ers tight end Brent Jones told KNBR 680-AM on Monday evening. "I really do. I just think that for the last two years, we've underperformed remarkably.
"You can't stay status quo. This is the National Football League. There's an expectation. There's an expectation in the Bay Area. Fans do have high expectations and an effort level across the board, whether it's ownership, management, players, coaches. We're way below the bar and that's the reality.
"As a fan, it hurts to say that sometimes but I'm being completely objective. Some changes need to be made and we need to light a fire under this crew."
Back on Nov. 19, 49ers CEO Jed York told CSNBayArea.com's Matt Maiocco: "We got seven games left. I’m happy to address questions at the end. We’ll wait until the end of the season before we make any assessments.”
About a week later, head coach Jim Tomsula said he has not spoken with 49ers ownership or management about his job status.

On Nov. 29, a banner flew over Levi's Stadium that read: "Jed & 49ers Should Mutually Part Ways.”
On Dec. 4, York issued a memo to 49ers staff members, detailing changes in the front office.
On Dec. 17, 49ers Co-Chairman, John York, declared: "All of us are disappointed in the season. It did not go the way we were hoping. You can blame it on whatever, but it doesn't make any difference."
A few days later, Jed York once again told Matt Maiocco: "We’ll talk about everything at the end of the season.”
On Monday, Tomsula once again was asked about his job status, to which he answered: "I’m going to coach until somebody tells me I’m not."
With the season finale five days away, York can most likely be expected to address the media sometime next week.

Should the 49ers take a quarterback with their first pick in the draft?
As of today, San Francisco is slated to have the fifth overall selection.
"If we're not taking a quarterback with the fifth pick, if we don't think we have our guy there, then I absolutely am taking a guy, or trading up into the first round to take a guy with our second pick," Brent Jones said. "...We need a quarterback of the future. We do not have a quarterback of the future. I don't care what anybody tells you. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but it's shocking how many different perspectives people come up with. We don't, right now, have a quarterback of the future so we need to grab somebody."
What about adding a quarterback in free agency?
"If you're gonna get a guy in the free agent market, he's gonna have some flaws," Jones declared. "Or he's gonna have contract demands that are crazy, or he's gonna be a little washed up ... I think we need a young guy to develop for the future.
"I think that would be the first thing I would do ... I keep going back to (Jared) Goff. If you have Goff rated as the 14th best player, but you have the fifth pick and you need a quarterback -- I don't really give a crap, take the kid from Cal. Draft what your need is."
