Stanford Softball Eliminated by Alabama

The No. 15 seed Cardinal fell to the No. 2 seed Alabama, 1-0 on Friday, in the elimination game of the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.

Teagan Gerhart, sister of former Stanford running back Toby Gerhart, pitched a no-hitter through the first 4.1 innings and finished with six strikeouts, allowing just one run on four hits.

The Cardinal had their scoring chances, but could not capitalize.

Stanford ends the year at 42-17 overall.

The “Big Game” Spring Style

The Stanford Cardinal finished off its regular season with a 4-2 win over the Cal Golden Bears in game one of the double-header Saturday afternoon.

Game two was called in the top of the fourth due to rain, with the Cardinal leading, 7-1.

The Cardinal head into the postseason next week.

SJSU Baseball’s Season Comes to an End

Despite an 11-3 victory early on Friday over Nevada, the Spartans were eliminated from the WAC Tournament after losing their second game of the day to Louisiana Tech, 9-5.

The Spartans finished the season at an impressive 35-25 overall.

Late-Inning Heroics Hurt Broncos

Santa Clara baseball lost a tight 2-1 game to the Portland Pilots on Saturday.

Neither team scored until the ninth inning.

The Broncos struck first with one run in the top of the ninth, but the Pilots rallied in the bottom half of the inning for two of their own and the walk-off victory.

The Broncos finish up their season on Sunday at 1p.m. against Portland.
