Boxing runs in the family for Gary Antuanne Russell.

Older brother Gary Russell Jr. was a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic team and went on to capture the WBC featherweight world championship after turning pro. Two of his other brothers – who are also named Gary Russell – are boxers as well, and all of the Russell boys are trained by their father, Gary Russell Sr.

When Gary Antuanne, who grew up in Prince George's County, won the Golden Gloves national championship in 2014, it was a historic moment. Three of his brothers had already captured Golden Golves titles, and Gary Antuanne’s victory made them the first group of four brothers ever to all become champions.

Gary Antuanne's brother Gary Jr. attended the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but was unable to reach the 119-pound weight limit. He collapsed before his weigh-in. Gary Jr. told the Associated Press he was one of the favorites that Olympics.

The champion of the Olympic trials, Gary Antuanne, the youngest brother, seeks to be the first of his brothers to throw a punch in the Olympics.
