The Giants wasted another good performance by Barry Zito Tuesday night, eventually losing to the Rockies 2-1 in 11 innings. For most of the night, it looked as if Zito would cruise to his seventh victory of the season. However, since the Giants could only manage a single run of support for the lefty, Colorado was able to rally from behind. Zito gave up the tying run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly.
The game remained knotted at one until the top of the 11th, when Clint Barmes ripped a run scoring double to give Colorado the eventual game winner.
The Rockies will now go for the three game sweep Wednesday night. Matt Cain, coming off a brilliant one hit performance in his last outing, will take the mound for the Giants. Wednesday's game wraps up the Giants nine game homestand.
