Giants Fans Want ‘Beat LA' Flown Over Opening Day

The chalk lines of battle have been drawn. The pin on the Google map has been dropped and the date is set: March 31, Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles. It's Opening Day for the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants vs the Los Angeles Dodgers.

And what better way to celebrate the stories West Coast rivalry, showcasing two franchises headed in opposite directions, than to fly a banner over the 60-some-odd thousand fans that reads, "Giants 2010 Champs: BEAT LA"?

The fanatical shenanigan would up the producton value of Opening Day against the Dodgers by $8,000 -- that's what it costs to fly the banner over the stadium for 80 minutes on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday (starting March 31).

The organizers of the Banner Event are 45 percent toward their goal.

There are six levels of contributions being accepted by fysuinc.eventbrite.com, ranging from $500 for the Say Hey Kid to $20 for Timmy's Doobie Fund. The bottom tier is to contribute any amount, as long as you designate it for someone's "pocket book."

So, if you too would like to "shock the sports world while leaving Southern California feeling empty inside. Now is the time."
