Harbaugh Gets His Defensive Coordinator: Report

The 49ers have finally beaten the Dallas Cowboys at something.

Not since the soggy days of Steve Young and Troy Aikman during it out on a cold Candlestick turf has the 49ers-Cowboys rivalry been too exciting.

But this week at least the San Francisco 49ers can say they are getting some of their prestige back after missing the playoffs for eight straight seasons.

The NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the 49ers' new head coach Jim Harbaugh is making San Francisco an attractive place for coaches once again.

Harbaugh is expected to hire his former Stanford defensive coordinator Vic Fangio for the same position with the 49ers.

Fangio, a former NFL assistant, was being pursued by several teams, including the Dallas Cowboys.

But since the 49ers lured Harbaugh away from the farm, the team has been seen as the probable landing spot for Fanagio.

While the defense may get a new look with Fangio, several of the team's other coaches are expected to stay in place.

La Canfora also reports that Harbaugh is likely to keep current offensive line coach Mike Solari, running backs coach Tom Rathman and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula with the team.
