Krukow ‘Wouldn't be Surprised' if Giants Land Cespedes

On Tuesday, a report surfaced claiming that the Giants are "in the mix" for Yoenis Cespedes.

Would he be a good addition to the clubhouse?

"Could he fit there? Absolutely," Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow said on KNBR 680-AM on Wednesday morning. "The book on Cespedes is that he's a good teammate. He's proven that ... there's no complaints about what type of teammate he is ... I wouldn't be surprised at anything right now with the way things have happened so far this offseason."

The Giants made two big splashes this winter.

First, it was Jeff Samardzija's 5-year, $90 million pact.

Then, it was Johnny Cueto's 6-year, $130 million contract.

Conventional wisdom would suggest that the team isn't going to hand out another massive deal, but as Krukow noted, perhaps Giants brass isn't done spending yet.

"There are names out there that are still being considered," Krukow explained. "I know the Giants are going hard, the front office certainly hasn't shut down. They're looking to improve this club. Whether it comes in the form of Cespedes, or (Ian) Desmond, or Alex Gordon -- I wouldn't be surprised at any of them."

Cespdes, who turned 30 years old in October, was an All-Star in 2014.

Over 159 games last season -- 102 with the Tigers and 57 with the Mets -- he hit .291 with 35 home runs and 105 RBI, and won the Gold Glove.
