Larry Ellison can expect a call from the Belmont-Redwood Shores school district.

What has been rumored for over a year, finally became a reality on Wednesday.  Oracle CEO Larry Ellison confirmed he is trying to buy the Warriors.

"I'm trying, I'm trying," Ellison said, in response to an audience member's question during a public event at Oracle headquarters in Redwood shores. "Unfortunately, you can't have a hostile takeover of a basketball team."

Ellison was responding to a question from a member of the audience during a conference to discuss Oracle's plans for its latest acquisition, struggling computer server maker Sun Microsystems.

The Oracle chief has been spotted at a Warriors game as recently as January 11, when LeBron James and the Cavs came to town.  Oracle already has the naming rights to the Oakland arena.

Chris Cohan has owned the franchise since 1995.
