Lincecum Stands on Trash Cans for Autograph Hounds

While San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum may be struggling with his velocity, his autograph-signing skills are still legendary.

Lincecum did not pitch in Tuesday night's 9-3 loss to the Phillies, but he did make an appearance that Philly fans are still talking about it.

Philadelphia fans were clamoring for autographs from the two-time Cy Young winner. Most players would ignore them. The very few who would indulge them would typically have security guards hand them the items to be autographed.

Not Timmy.

He grabbed a big red plastic trash can, dragged it to the dugout, and climbed on top. He then leaned against the roof of the dugout with his elbows and signed baseballs and ball caps for the fans. HardballTalk.com has proof in a photo taken before the game.

Alright, go ahead. Get that "He just wanted to get higher" joke out of your system.

Joe Kukura is a freelance writer who would point out that there actually is such a thing an as an official Tim Lincecum trash can.
