Luck's Heisman Bid

Stanford QB talks Heisman and Orange Bowl

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck has had a busy week both on and off the field. While the Cardinal gets prepared for the Orange Bowl, it’s also finals week at Stanford and he was taking an exam when the Heisman Trophy finalist announcement was made Monday.

Luck will join Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, Oregon running back LaMichael James and Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore for the Heisman award show this coming Saturday in New York City.

Newton is considered the front-runner, but Luck says, “whoever wins, is going to deserve to win, so I’m just excited to be part of the discussion.” This is the second consecutive year Stanford has had a Heisman finalist, as Toby Gerhart was runner-up for the award last year.

When asked about if he was leaning one way or another about declaring for the upcoming NFL draft, Luck said, “I don’t really have a comment on that subject right now.”

Regardless, he had plenty to talk about regarding the Heisman finalist selection and the upcoming trip to the Orange Bowl to face Virginia Tech.
