Tom Brady Belongs to the Pats Until 2014

For a cool $72 million, Brady will stay with the Patriots

Rejoice, Patriots fans! Tom Brady is signed.

The six-time Pro-Bowler with three Super Bowl rings, is now signed to be a Patriot until 2014, and will be paid $72 million to do so.

Head coach Bill Belichick, normally a gruff character, said that he's happy about it, saying, "There's no other quarterback I'd rather have than Tom Brady." Wes Welker, one of Brady's favorite targets, added, "No one deserves it more. I'm happy for him."

Fans should be happy about it, as well. The Patriots brass was wise to give Brady what he wanted. Not only does this keep the franchise's marquee player happy, it takes the monkey off his back before the season starts. Now, he can focus on one thing: leading the Patriots to their tenth consecutive winning season.

That, and getting his car fixed. Oh, and spending time with his super model wife.
