Raiders' Louis Murphy Out with Lung Injury

Trouble in Raider-land in the afterglow of a 59-14 rout of the Broncos. The injury suffered to Oakland Raiders wide receiver Louis Murphy is more serious than had been thought.

A report from ProFootballTalk.com asserts that Murphy bruised a lung in the Denver win and will miss this Sunday's 1 p.m. PDT matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

Murphy has been the Raiders' top wideout this season, and had started all seven games thus far.

Murphy suffered the injury in a friendly-fire collision with teammate Marcel Reese during the Broncos win. He had previously bruised a clavicle in the Week 4 loss to the Texans.

On Monday, Raiders coach Tom Cable told the Oakland Tribune that Murphy's injury was "something going on in the chest area, looks to be a like a contusion, but how severe it is and how much it limits him is really the question."

Murphy has 337 yards receiving through seven games, more than twice as many as any other  Raiders wide receiver. Prior to the injury, Murphy was on pace for a nearly 800-yard season.
