Raiders Promote Hue Jackson to Head Coach

Jackson Takes over for Cable

Though it was speculated for weeks, the Raiders finally made it official on Monday evening:  Hue Jackson will replace Tom Cable as head coach.

"The fire in Hue will set a flame that will burn for a long time in the hearts and minds of the Raider football team and the Raider Nation," said 81 year-old team owner Al Davis.

A longtime NFL assistant, this will be Jackson's first ever head coaching position.  The 45 year-old spent last season as the Raiders' offense coordinator.

Jackson will be the Raiders seventh head coach since 2000 and will be formally introduced on Tuesday at Raiders headquarters in Alameda Tuesday afternoon.
