Raiders Promote One Coach, Still Seek D-Coordinator

The coaches' bench in the Oakland Raiders team photo is coming into more focus, but there's still one big spot vacant.

Greg Biekert, formerly of defensive assistant fame, has been promoted to linebackers' coach from within the ranks of the Raiders.

According to AP, Biekert's claim to fame was his involvement with the Tom Brady "Tuck Ball" call that was overturned, foiling the Raiders when they played the New England Patriots in 2001.

Biekert played 11 seasons in the NFL as a linebacker, nine with the Raiders.

Head Coach Hue Jackson said Biekert's approach matches his own. But Jackson still has to fill his defensive coordinator job.

Chuck Bresnahan was recently picked up as a coach, and could be in the running, but the rumor mill churns on as the silver-and-black tries to fill a critical coaching role.
