Singletary: “It's Possible” Gore Plays Against Raiders

Throughout this whole preseason, San Francisco 49ers fans have wondered how good their offense would really be if they had their "Big Three." Top offensive skill players  Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and Michael Crabtree have played a combined zero snaps in the two preseason games thus far.

This Saturday night against the Raiders, Niner fans will still just have to wonder. Davis and Crabtree will not play. But coach Mike Singletary says that Frank Gore just might.

"It's possible," Samurai Mike told the Mercury News, when they asked if Gore would play. "I think it comes down to timing. When you have a very good runner, you want to be careful. But at the same time, you don't want to limit him too much."

Let's be clear -- Frank Gore is not even slightly injured with anything. But he's going into his sixth NFL season, he's a two-time Pro Bowler at a punishing position, and he's had more than 1,000 yards in each of the last four seasons. He appears to know how to be a pretty good back.

And if it were up to Gore, he'd play.

"I'm a player, so I'd like to play," Gore told the Merc. "I just want to get that first hit, that first contact to the ground, and after that, it'll be go-go for me."

If Gore doesn't play Saturday, he still has plenty of go-go options in San Francisco.
