Stanford, USF to Meet at Oracle Arena

Stanford and USF will begin the 2012-13 men's basketball season at Oracle Arena on Nov. 9.

Fresh off a National Invitational Touranment championship at Madison Square Garden, the Stanford men's basketball team will return to an NBA arena to begin its 2012-13 campaign.

The Cardinal announced Wednesday it will open the season against the University of San Francisco at Oracle Arena in Oakland on Nov. 9.

It will be the first meeting between the schools since 2005, when Stanford won 71-56 at Maples Pavilion. Last season, the teams scrimmaged at USF before the regular season began.

The game is expected to begin at 7 p.m., but could change depending on a potential TV broadcast.

Expectations figure to be high on the Farm after the Cardinal finished 26-11 and captured the NIT title. The team returns its two leading scorers from last year, Chasson Randle (13.6 ppg) and Aaron Bright (11.7).

USF will return just six players from last year after six players decided to transfer after the Dons went  20-14 and qualified for the CBI. Starters Perris Blackwell and Michael Williams were among those who transfered. The Dons are expected to be led by juniors Cody Doolin (9.3 ppg) and Cole Dickerson (7.1).
