Torres to the Rescue

Andres Torres led off the eighth inning with a go-ahead home run, helping the Giants beat the Rockies 5-2 on Tuesday night to close within four games of the NL West-leading Padres.

Buster Posey added a two-run double in the eighth as the Giants won for just  the second time in six games.  Freddy Sanchez had two hits and scored twice.

Colorado once again made a late inning comeback, when Melvin Mora hit a game tying homer in the eighth inning off Jeremy Affeldt.  However, this time, the Giants were able to battle back for the much needed victory.

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner is still looking for his first win at home after allowing a run and five hits over six innings.  He walked three and struck out two.  The lefty also knocked in a run with a RBI double in the fifth.

Two struggling aces will battle it out in the rubber match of the three game series Wednesday night, when Tim Lincecum faces Ubaldo Jiminez.
