Twittersphere: Reactions to Firing of Warriors Coach Mark Jackson

The Golden State Warriors on Tuesday fired coach Mark Jackson after three years on the job, the last two of which ended with postseason losses.

The move was not a surprise, as Jackson's status had been unstable for months, maybe longer.

But on Tuesday Jackson met with owner Joe Lacob and general manager Bob Myers and the decision was made to terminate Jackson, who had one season left on his contract.

“It’s never easy to make a decision of this nature,” Myers said in a press release. “Mark has accomplished many good things during his three years with the organization, including his role in helping elevate this team into a better position than it was when he arrived nearly 36 months ago. We’re appreciative of his dedication and commitment since his arrival and are extremely grateful for his contributions. However, as an organization, we simply feel it’s best to move in a different direction at this time."

As for the fans, Myers had this message. "I would tell the fans that we love them, we appreciate them. We think they’re the best fans in the NBA. But front office, ownership remains and we’re committed to building a team that can win a championship, and that’s all we care about, that’s all we think about.  I understand the concern, but trust us. We are moving in the right direction here."

Not surprising, the news of Jackson's firing caused quite a stir on Twitter. Below is some of the reaction from around the Twittersphere.
