U.S. Mens Polo Wins With Help of Stanford Grads

The team will face Great Britain next.

The U.S. men's water polo team rallied from an early two goal loss to beat Romania 10-8 today.

Stanford graduate and team captain Tony Azevedo scored the first goal of the match with just over four-and-a-half minutes left in the first quarter.

Peter Varellas, also a Stanford graduate put three more goals on the board. The victory put the U.S. in the same standing as gold-medal favorite Serbia, the win over Romania was key to easing the way for the U.S. team into the quarterfinals, according to an article by ESPN.

The U.S. will now face Great Britain in a match on Thursday.
