The U.S. women's soccer team faced off against Costa Rica in its last match before heading to Rio for this summer's Olympics. It turned out to be a straightforward matchup for the U.S. as it defeated Costa Rica 4-0 at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City.
The U.S. started off strong as Crystal Dunn hit a shot off the crossbar in the 6th minute for the team's first scoring opportunity.
It didn't take much longer for the U.S. to find the back of the net as Dunn opened the scoring in the 15th minute. After a nice buildup by the U.S., Meghan Klingenberg took the ball toward the end line and sent in a cross to Dunn who had an easy tap in at the back post to make it 1-0.
The U.S. doubled its lead just seven minutes later as Mallory Pugh capped off her long run from the midfield with a goal as her shot beat Costa Rican goalkeeper Dinnia Diaz at the near post.
Carli Lloyd finished off a dominating first half for the U.S. as she scored a header off a Becky Sauerbrunn free kick to make it 3-0.
The second half saw a number of substitutions for the U.S. as head coach Jill Ellis looked to give players a final chance to get on the field before the Olympics.
One of those subs, Christen Press, scored the team's fourth goal in the 79th minute. Following a Costa Rica turnover, Press took a pass from Allie Long and slotted the ball into the goal.

The U.S. heads to Rio unbeaten in 15 matches in 2016 having allowed just four goals.
The team's first match in Olympic play is on August 3 against New Zealand.
