Stanford, Nebraska Fall in Upset-Packed First Saturday of College Football

The first Saturday of the college football, as it usually is, was filled with upsets.

BYU pulled off a thrilling victory by beating Nebraska 33-28 with a Hail Mary on the game's final play.

The Huskers lost their season opener for the first time since 1985, ending the nation's longest streak.

Portland State pulled off an upset in the Northwest, taking down Washington State 24-17 in Pullman. The Pac-12 was on the wrong side of an upset again when Northwestern knocked off No. 21 Stanford 16-6.

South Dakota State, another FCS school, survived a frantic rally by Kansas to beat the Jayhawks 41-38 in Lawrence. The Jayhawks had a chance to set up a tying field goal in the closing seconds, but quarterback Montell Cozart botched a spike to stop the clock.

North Dakota gave the Big Sky Conference two upset wins by beating Wyoming 24-13 and Temple beat Penn State for the first time in 74 years with a 27-10 victory over the Nittany Lions.
