A Detailed Look at Steph Curry's 2016-17 MVP Votes

Steph Curry won the MVP in 2015.

Last year, he became the first unanimous MVP in NBA history.

This year -- he finished in sixth place.

Curry did not receive a single first-place or second-place vote.

He did wind up with three third-place votes. They came from:

1) Lisa Shen Yang of Tencent
2) Richard Walker of Gaston Gazette
3) Royce Young of ESPN

He earned one fourth-place vote, from Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report.

Curry finished in sixth because he racked up 34 fifth-place votes.

Over the course of the season, it became clear that the Top 4 MVP candidates were Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James (they finished in that order).

In the end, Isaiah Thomas bested Curry for fifth-place by garnering four third-place votes, eight fourth-place votes and 37 fifth-place votes.

During the regular season, Curry averaged 25.3 points, 6.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting just under 47 percent from the field and over 41 percent from deep.

In the playoffs, he registered 28.1 points, 6.7 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals, while shooting over 48 percent from the field and just under 42 percent from distance.

Kevin Durant -- who was named NBA Finals MVP -- ended up with just two fifth-place votes.
